Accessing the HCA Candidate Portal
The HCA Candidate Portal for external candidates can be accessed through using a computer, smartphone or tablet. Visit HCA Candidate Portal using a web browser on your device.
The portal can also be accessed using links provided in HCA email communications.
Logging into the HCA Candidate Portal
To access application statuses and information related to your candidate account, you must log in with a username and password. The username is the email address registered to your candidate account, and the password set at the time of account creation.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to Access HCA Candidate Portal
HCA requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) for external candidates accessing the HCA Candidate Portal. This means all external candidates will be required to enter a six-digit code provided to them by the HCA system each time they attempt to access the HCA Candidate Portal.
After entering login details or initiating the password reset process, candidates will be taken to the MFA page to enter a six-digit code that will be automatically sent to the primary email address registered to the candidate’s account. Once the email and code are received, candidates must enter that code on the MFA page to transition to the HCA Candidate Portal.
- How long are the MFA codes valid for? All MFA codes are valid for 15 minutes. There is an option to re-send an MFA verification code on the MFA page.
- What happens if I enter an incorrect MFA code? Candidates are given three attempts to enter the correct MFA code and successfully complete the MFA process. After three failed attempts, the candidate’s account will be locked.
- An error message says my account is locked. How do I unlock it? Candidate accounts can be unlocked by initiating a reset password. Reset Your Password.
